Media Advisory - 1/27 Rally

Media Advisory - For Immediate Release

On Saturday, January 27, 2024, Cape Coral Preservation PAC (CCPPAC) and Save Jaycee Park are holding an Initiative Kick-Off Rally at Jaycee Park at noon. The rally marks the start of the petition signature gathering for 2 Initiatives sponsored by CCPPAC.

The Save Jaycee Park Initiative seeks to prevent the City Council from destroying the tranquil, nature-lovers’ current park and replace it with a commercial area. The initiative prohibits replacing the current park with an amphitheater, bar, cafes, and concrete seawall.

The second initiative seeks the rescission and repayment of the stipend amounting to a 100 % pay increase implemented by the Cape Coral City Council by resolution 351-23 on December 13, 2023.

CCPPAC is a bipartisan volunteer political action committee formed by city residents who oppose the overdevelopment of Cape Coral. “Cape Coral City Council has continued to not listen and ignore the will of the people that they were elected to represent.  The patience of Cape Coral Florida’s residents has run out,” said Joel Pusateri, Vice-Chair of CCPPAC.

“Jaycee Park is a beloved park enjoyed by dog-walkers, bird-watchers and nature lovers. We are not going to let our local government destroy it without a fight,” said Tony Karp, another founding member of CCPPAC.

“We know we have a lot of work to do to get these petitions on the ballot. But when we organize and work together, we have the power to create the change we want to see in the world,” said Clare Dooley, Chair of CCPPAC.

To get on the ballot, each initiative petition much have about 22,000 signatures, or 15% of the electorate of the city. Anyone interested in donating to the cause, signing a petition, or helping to collect signatures can sign up at
